HEAVY & FINE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STERLINGSILVER TEA SETby REED & BARTON
with MATCHING SILVER PLATE TRAY!
Large comfortable handles. Long sculpted repousse
excellent weight and excellent estate condition! A
clean, ready to use set. No monograms and no damage. No dings, dents, repairs or
condition issues whatsoever. Even the insulators on the teapot handle are super clean. The lids
seat properly. The pieces arelevel and the hinges are firm. The legs are all
level. There's no looseness or wiggles. No surprises. Only the tray shows some
expected minor wear, where the pieces sit.
These are somewhatOVERSIZED pieces. An especiallygood size for
contemporary use. I mean to say, we've sold hundreds of tea sets through the
years. So we recommend that before you start offerding on silver teasets, there
should be a couple practical considerations. Aesthetics top the priority list of
course but size, weight and actual usability are important.
you already have a large "show piece" set for your buffet or dining room... you
will likely appreciate this set and its size... for it's beauty cetrainlybut
also for it's very usable and practical size. This pattern is called GEORGIAN ROSE. It sells without a tray for $2,474.00 on a popular replacement site
Sizes of tea and coffee pieces vary by the time frame from
whencethey came. For example, there are some sets out therewith cream jugs
thatare entirely too small to accomodate our modern creamer needs. You may have
enough coffee, enough sugar or sweetener but only enough cream for 2-3 cups of
coffee or tea.Or you see sets with gigantic sugar bowls and no lid! Many of
those were made around 1800-1850. OR... some diminutive sets, great for serving
you and a friend. They would have you running back and forth to the kitchen or
kettle for refills. OR, as I've experienced and had related to me... you get a
large set with a big tray just to find out that balancing 30 pounds of hot
coffee and tea is not as easy as it seems or as pleasant as it should
That brings us back around to this set.
There are 54 ounces of sterling consisting ofa good sized,
voluminous pot of (48 fluid ounces) for coffee or tea. An appropriatelysized
cream pitcher capable of holding14 fluid ounces and a suitablysized, covered
sugar bowl for any sweetener you use... Splenda, sugar, cubes,
The profusely decorated double handled tray isathick & rigid piece of appropriate & reasonable size.
(bearing in mind it's intended for easy transport) It will accomodate
thesterlinghollowware AND, again, it'seasy to transport, measuringat 20"
across the handles. So itwon't require a tea cart or big muscles to move
around. It fits on the kitchen counter too! I have a set like this and have used
itonmy coffee table. It's not too large for your kitchen dinettetable
