Interesting old 4/4 violin - presumably late 1800 / early 1900.

This beautiful violin shows a former firm repair on the pegbox, but no open cracks or open seams, and only minor marks in it´s old varnish. The table is medium to wider grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is maple. Like always the violin has been checked by our luthiers and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new set-up with ebony pegs, an elder ebony tailpiece and ebony chinrest, a newly fitted bridge and new strings.These are new silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin!Excellent old master violin in immediate playing condition!
