Fine Quality 19c Chinese Hardwood Display Stand Carved & Pierced From One Piece For Sale
For sale here is a very fine quality 19c Chinese carved hardwood display stand in a rectangular shape with rounded corner treatments. This great stand was produced in China around the mid 1800s and is worked from one solid piece in a seldom seen style with a deep inset oval foot area. This stand is of a rectangular shape with rounded corners and seems to have all the carved treatments that are found in most of the high quality made stands such as the top with opposing single scrolls with raised beading around the foot hole and the outside and a acanthus type carved edge with a good high collar having pierced slots and stars terminating into the top of the base starting with a single leaf boarder and a 4 panel skirt with well done openwork of scrolls and a mythical animal standing on four integrated pierced feet. The underneath shows wonderful construction showing the old chisel marks as this stand is done from one solid piece and carved no doubt by a well seasoned artist. Condition overall is excellent with two panels having small chips to the scrolls and a short split to the bottom edge of one end and these are nothing serious but noted for accuracy. Sizes: Length 5" x Depth 3-1/2" x Height 3" A super stand for the collector that would surely add to a nice piece of jade or carved object.
