Fine Quality Bois Durci Prince Albert Medallion 4.5'' Great Condition No Res For SaleThis genuine Victorian medallion measures 115mm (4.5'') across x 6mm (.25'') thick at the edge and weighs 117 grams. It is a Royal profile of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband and it is widely attributed to the French artist Lepage and dates to around 1860. It is clearly marked to the reverse Bois Durci which was a process invented in around 1855 and involved powdered hardwood, glue and and a great deal of pressure applied to a heated steel die. This looks like an early pressing as the detail of the facial features is exceptionally good. It is in great condition with no repairs and a very fine piece of Royal Victoriana using a patent method that had pretty much disappeared by the 1880's.
International buyers are always welcome to this sale. F.M.O.C. Postage outside the United Kingdom is at cost please contact me for a quote. Due to the recent large increase in UK postage rates I am happy for international buyers to arrange their own collection and domestic buyers to collect in person. Most international postage rates are listed as NOT signed for and NOT insured so if you require either please let me know and I will add it to your invoice. Sadly due to Italy terrible postage system I will always add £5.15 to the postage charge for signed for to ensure it reaches the customer. If the item is listed as " Signed for " on the postage then obviously it is already included. If you have any questions please do contact me. All our items are extremely well packed to save them from damage in transit. If you are not happy with this article based on the information I have provided I will always happily refund minus the cost of any postage. All purchases must be piad for within 3 days of the end of the sale unless agreed otherwise.
