Up for sale with is a very fine Victorian Period English Silver Plate Revolving Dome Breakfast or Supper Dish. The server is very fine quality throughout with it's original two liners, one being pierced as seen in the photos. The server is very practical for use, as you can put hot water in the base to keep everything nice and hot, or you can remove the liners and serve Mashed Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs or even Soup. I have sold these in the past for very handsome prices, they are extremely popular because when you have a home buffet set up your guests can serve themselves and not have to worry about where to put a lid off the serving dish, it just revolves out of the way, then it can be closed to keep everything hot, as Silver is a wonderful insulator. This beauty is a little larger than others I have had measuring approx. 8-1/4" high x 14-1/2" wide or the actual serving area measures 9-1/2" by 7" across the top and 3-1/4" deep, a nice practical size for use and display. This server is marked for the fine Sheffield England Silversmiths John Round and Sons, as well as EPNS which I know is important to advanced collectors. I would date it to the 1880's or so by the style and the mark. The Entree Server is in amazing condition, the Silver is just gleaming, I am sure the new owner will be most pleased. The only thing to point out is the Tab Handle has been replaced by a nice drop finial handle. If you have been wanting to add one of these Revolving Dishes to your collection, I doubt you will find many as nice, especially up for sale with !
