Finn Juhl Nv 45 Chair, Niels Vodder, Teak Or Rosewood, Mid-century Danish Modern For Sale
“The craftsman’s
ability to form is probably the same as that of a sculptor. A chair is
not just a product of decorative art in a space; it is a form and a
space in itself". - Finn Juhl, 1952MODEL: 45 Chair,NV 45 Chair, NV45 Easy Chair, NV45 Arm Chair, Model 45 Chair DESIGNER: Finn Juhl MASTER CABINETMAKER: Niels Vodder TITLE: Finn Juhl NV 45 COUNTRY: CREATION DATE: 1945 MATERIALS: Teak, possibly rosewood, walnut, or other dark wood, blue wool boucle upholstery fabric FINISH: Matte, Oil Finish CONDITION: Good LENGTH: 27 1/2" (rear leg to front leg) DEPTH: 30" HEIGHT: 32 1/2" STYLE/PERIOD: Mid-Century Modern This chair is the one of an identical pair. The second chair will be offered in a separate sale. Model NV 45 easy chair, designed by Finn Juhl and produced by Niels Vodder for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1945. The Guild shows emphasized the work of the artisan over mass production, so Juhl's early chairs were produced in small numbers - eighty at most. Juhl generally used teak, rosewood or other dark woods, such as mahogany and walnut in his chairs. Please note: I'm not certain which wood was used in this chair. If you can identify the wood, I would very much appreciate an e-mail.Condition: additional details
