A signed check by Franklin D. Roosevelt when President dated Sept. 7th , 1944 payable to George Lauder Stringham DVM ( Doctor of Veterinary Medicine ).This check was probably related to FDR\'s famous dog Fala.Fala (April 7, 1940 – April 5, 1952), a Scottish Terrier, was the dog of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. One of the most famous presidential pets, Fala captured the attention of the public in the United States and was taken everywhere by Roosevelt, becoming part of his public image. A statue of Fala beside Roosevelt is prominently featured in Washington, D.C.\'s Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the only presidential pet so honoredOn Sept. 7, 1944: US Ninth Air Force destroyed five hundred German vehicles retreating in southern France. Chinese secured Sung Shan region of Burma.
