This is a beautiful,2 volume set "An Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry," Written by Albert G. Mackey and Published by the Masonic History Company in 1924. Both volumes are app. 10-1/8" tall by 7-1/2" wide. The set has 913 pp. B&W plate of Mackey followed by a color frontispiece of the three graces in volume I. Volume II has a full page plate of William Hughan followed by a color frontispiece of the four cardinal virtues. Profusely illustrated with numerous color and b&w plates, illustrations & drawings, this set reveals the traditions, customs, symbols, ceremonies, degrees and notable members of the great brotherhood throughout history.
As you can see from the pictures below, the publishers spared no expense in trying to create one of the most richly decorated 2 volume sets ever published to date, just look at all the rich color embossing on the front boards and fabulous designwork done in gold foil gilt on the front & spines. The back boards are richly done in blind stamped Masonic symbols as well.

This set is in very good condition, minor shelfwear to spines with a little tiny splitting in cloth top of spine of Vol I, extremely minor rubbing on corners. Vol II has a couple small stains on front board. Gold Endpapers are clean, No writing, and the (reinforced by publishers) gutters are without cracking.The text is clean & white,has no writing, no torn or missing pages. Overall, a used set that is in very good condition.
