French Look Simon And Halbig 1009 25 Inch Doll For Sale
Gorgeous Simon and Halbig 1009 bisque doll with a shaped french fashion type leather body. From a very wealthy Farmington, Ct. family, the doll has been attic stored for years. Measures 25 inches. Head sits inside a bisque shoulder plate lined in leather. Pierced ears. Heavenly blue threaded paperweight eyes. The face of an angel. Condition of the bisque is excellent. Creamy pale bisque color. Hands and fingers are finely molded. Slightly open mouth with teeth that are set back from the heart shaped lips. One minuscule flake to her ear at the missing pierced earring (original wire is still present.) Other pierced ear still has original white pearl heart earring. One or two very tiny wig pulls at the top of her very large forehead. Original wax on her eyelids is a bit darkened. Leather and cloth body is good. Very shapely fanny...but her leather knees and some of the leather seams will need taping immediately. So far, she has not leaked more than a few bits of straw, but will need immediate attention. Simon and Halbig made some of the most beautiful and rare dolls in Victorian era Germany. An expensive doll in her day... probably a Christmas day treasure for a lucky little girl. A stunning doll.
