Fabulous Antique Early Victorian Silver Plated Egg Cruet Set & Stand
This superb quality silver plated egg Cruet set is of circular form
The egg cups have a lovely pierced design and are standing on 4 individual pegs.
Flanked by a ornate open fretwork pierced design gallery embossed
with floral decoration with gadrooned rope twist borders on top and
bottom. There are 4 spoon rests on top of the gallery.
Standing on 3 nicely crafted feet.
The 4 spoons are not original to the set and are stamped EPNS,
but are a nice addition with their floral design.
The elaborate carry handle is a piece of art in its own right, in
classic early Victorian style with slots in its base to insert the spoons
Dating to c.1840-1860 the silver plating is very reminiscent of
Old Sheffield Plate in appearance.
It is not uncommon for pieces of this period not to have a
Makersmark but looking at the quality and the Craftmanship it\'s
most likely to be made In Sheffield by an accomplished Silversmith.
It\'s a rare find to find a piece of this quality in such a great condition.
The plating is superb with minimal ware, clean bright and gleaming,
commensurate with age and use.
All in all a superb piece of silverware that would grace any
table or setting
