Fabulous Victorian Mourning Hair Cemetary Scene W/ 3d Effect - German 1882:
You are looking at a stunning antique Victorian Mourning Hair Cemetary scene from 1882 Germany. The hair scene is in wonderful condition, just a few stray hairs. The hair is in the frame real tight (I see no movement). The cemetary scene shows a weeping willow (the hair is layered rather thick giving it a 3D effect that is amazing), a somewhat foggy background (on purpose), the monument of Mathilde Krapoth (the headstone has the initials M.K. written in gold lettering), there is a flower wreath adorning the headstone and there are numerous other plants and grasses along the base of the headstone and tree. The hair piece is framed by a lovely gold colored/painted oval frame that is inside of the glass. The silver colored oval frame that holds the glass in is engraved and it says in German, "Mathilde Krapoth geb. am 19. December 1823 gest. am 9. December 1882". (Mathilde Krapoth born on 19 December 1823 died on 9 December 1882.) The sizes given are the size of the frame. Such a great piece and a must for the Victorian Mourning Hair Cemetary collector. This item will be shipped insured. Thanks for looking!
