The story of Fendi begins in Rome in 1925 when Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi open a small shop selling leather goods and luggage, with an adjoining fur workshop. It’s during the sixties that the brand starts its collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, who today is one of fashion’s biggest names. It’s love at first sight. Lagerfeld starts working on the fur, which he cuts, tears, dyes and molds. His goal is to revolutionize the concept of fur, by creating light garments for comfortable everyday use. In 1967 Karl Lagerfeld invented the term “Fun Fur”, which would later transform into the famous double F logo, symbol of the maison and recognized worldwide. During the nineties Silvia Venturini Fendi joins the company as creative director of handbags and accessories and goes on to create the Baguette, a cult bag which gives life to the phenomenon of the IT bag.
