Fine 18th-19th C. Turkish Or Greek Silver Mtd. Yatagan Sword W/gold Inlaid Blade For Sale
Beautiful silver mounted Yatagan from around 18th to 19th century era, wearing a lightly recurved blade of traditional form, heavily inlaid with gold decorations and scripts, bearing a circular struck maker's mark on one side surrounded by extensive gold work. Nice gray patina to the blade with areas of fine pitting mainly towards the tip area, several light nicks to the edge. Mounted with a lovely slender hilt having R.H. grips set in fine repousse silver work en suite to scabbard mounts, the rest of scabbard is dressed in beautiful blue velvet like fabric over wood. Solid and intact overall, this gorgeous example will take a proud place in any advanced collection of Islamic or Ottoman Arms and Armor. overall 26 1/4" blade 18 1/2".
