Fine Antique Armourer Kukri 19thc Or Ww1. Large 35 Cm Blade:
Up for sale is another nice armourer's officer kukri. This came in a lot of kukri from a Swiss collector which contained some lovely pieces.
This a fine large fighting kukri with a blade length of 35.6 cm and blade width of 6 cm. In spite of these monster proportions, it's surprisingly light at about 540 grams. This is an indication of it's military and fighting heritage.
The blade is inlaid with nice crescent engravings which are filled with gold-coloured (I don't know what the exact metal is) metal. The handle is studded with silver nails as well as bone/lighter-coloured wood diamonds. One or two of these diamonds have been lost
This particular style of kukri is generally known by collectors as, I believe an 'armoury type' kukri and are quite sought after. For more in depth research I recommend the International Kukri Research and History Society (IKRHS) forum
Overall a good addition to any collection and still in solid usable condition if that's what you're looking for.
