Anextremelyrare & truly stunning Georgian Gold Ruby set Foliate Brooch dating to the reign of George III c1800, which has a hinged leaf motif front covering a \'picture hole\' (please study the detailed close-up photographs provided, which form an integral part of the item\'s description)
This wonderful Brooch, which weighs 10.1 grams and has a diameter of approx\' 3.6cms, is of circular form with rope twist & fine scroll decoration around the edge. It has as it\'s focal point a beautifully crafted \'leaf motif\' hinged cover set with a Ruby, which opens to reveal a hidden \'picture hole\'.
Typical of the period the Brooch is unmarked but it is guaranteed to be made from solid Gold.Overall and commensurate with age this fine Georgian Brooch is in great condition; the hinged leaf cover has a good hinge & clasp & it opens & closes beautifully. Unfortunately the rear compartment no longer has it\'s cover, but this remains a rare & beautiful Georgian Brooch.
