Fine Large Georgian Enamel Portrait Swivel Pinchbeck Brooch For Sale
A fine antique swivel brooch. This is a very good size, measuring 6 x 5.5 cms, including frame. The hand painted enamel portrait shows a pretty young woman, with a closed fan in right hand. Young ladies were well versed in the language of the fan. The closed fan is asking "do you love me?" With the fan pointing outwards I think she is openly showing her affection. The decorative yellow metal holder and frame, I believe is Pinchbeck, which was a popular substitute for gold during the 18th and early 19th century. The painting has a continental look, possibly French or Swiss. I can confirm that the portrait is in good order and the pin and "c" clasp are intact. The brooch is delightful and will make an interesting and worthy addition to your collection. All postage includes Signed For delivery.
