Fine Sampson Mordan Sterling Silver Wax Seal As An Owl; Hallmarked Chester 1906:
A Fine Sampson Mordan Sterling Silver Wax Seal in the form of an OwlFully Hallmarked for Chester 1906
A superb and highly collectable antique Sterling Silver Wax Seal, which was made by the highly regarded firm of Silversmiths Sampson Mordan & Co, which is fully hallmarked and was assayed in Chester in 1906 (please see fourth photograph).
This superb piece is in great condition (please study the detailed close up photographs I have provided, which form an integral part of the description). There is a dark spot in the right eye below the pupil, which looks as though it may have been caused by an air bubble during the manufacturing process and a line running under it, which may be a slight crack (can't really tell but just mentioning for accuracy).
This superb quality Wax Seal is also stamped on the base with a Registration No as shown in the fifth photograph. The Wax Seal is engraved with the letter 'E' in antique script.
The Seal measures approx' 33mm high and it weighs 8.8 grams.
In summary an antique and highly collectable SterlingSilver Wax Seal in the form of an Owl with glass eyes by Sampson Mordan & Co dating to 1906.
