Fine Victorian 19thC Gilt Brass Adjustable Desk Magnifier / Microscope + Slides Description :On offer is an unusually finely made Victorian 19th century gilt brass desk magnifier / microsope. The heavy turned brass base has the vertical stemmed screwed into it, and this stem can be adjusted up and down by sliding the outer gilt brass tube up and down. The thick domed lens is in good order and mounted on the slender turned arm, which can again be adjusted in and out. A fine piece of engineering and an unusual piece. Comes with a small selection of slides as shown in the photos. Please refer to photos (all of which enlarge). Dimensions : Stand closed : 125mm extending to 200mm approx.
