Fine and rare sterling silver spoon warmer by GJ Richards, London 1852

This is a superb and heavy spoon warmer in the shape of a nautilus shell standing on the rocky seafloor! There is a vivid contrast between the highly and carefully carved shell and the shiny seafloor with linear designs indicating the water flow. The inner part of the shell is gilded

The marks:

- lion passant

- leopard's head for London

- date-letter R for 1852

- Queen Victoria's head facing left

- maker mark: GR for George John Richards (see Crowned V in a triangle = Dutch mark for imported items (see pic 6)

Condition is very good, with no damage! a superb item!
