Interesting routine letter fromFirst Lady Bess Truman, sent from the White House during the first year of her husband President HarryTruman's administration. Evidently the recipient was a friend or acquaintance of theirs back in Independence, Missouri, their hometown. Included here is the letter, which was carefully folded twice to get it into the envelope, as well as the envelope itself. Total size of unfolded letter is 6-1/8" x 9-1/4". Envelope is 6-1/2" x 3-3/4". Both are inas a good a shape as when it was sent and received. Also interesting is that Mrs. Truman used a stamp to mail the letter instead of a franking. Purchased from a reputable autograph dealer.
