Flapper Compact Dance Purse Art Deco Black Bakelite Rhinestones Tassles Lipstick For Sale
Fresh from a Charleston SC estate, you can imagine this Flapper dancing the Charleston holding this great compact dance purse. This is an authentic, vintage Art Deco black plastic bakelite purse embedded with rhinestones and an incised white pattern. The roped double handle has tassles on either side of the 3" by 2" geometric compact/purse, and a tassle beneaththat nestlesa brass tube of lipstick, fully functional with a bit of red lipstick remaining inside. The interior of the purse has two compartments that open on one side, and a mirror that opens on the other.The mirror is backed with celluloid. There is a rhinestone clasp whichcloses with a fresh snap that secures the purse.There are a total of 178 Rhinestones (I counted 'em) and they are all present. Also part of the pattern onboth sides are little beads that are between the rhinestones, and form the patternaround the triangle andalso the rectangle under the rhinestones. Some of these are missing, but does not detract in any way from appearance. The mirror is a tad cockeyed but can be straightened. The condition of this purse is excellent and so fresh. No maker's mark - an exceptional period piece.
