Flight Engineer Wings/Badge WWII Army Air Corps Sterling Silver RARE
The Flight Engineer’s wings are one of the rarest of all U.S. Air Corps wings because they were not authorized until June 1945. The position dates from the introduction of the B-29 Super Fortress when it was realized that a third officer was needed to control the mechanical functions of that plane. The position was done away with when the Air Corps became the Air Force in 1948. These wings have exceptionally nice detail on the feathers and the pistons on the engine. Sterling silver with pin back. Made by N.S. Meyer Co. See the pictures. Ask questions. Insurance is up to the discretion of the buyer.
