Louisa attended Ingham University for the "Art Course" and graduated in 1888. She taught art at Demill College which was a ladies school in Canada (and is pictured with a class in 1894). She was a painter who loved to paint landscapes. At one time in her life she went to visit cousins in Mill Valley, California. She fell in love with a man and they were engaged. But he contracted TB and died. She then returned to Honeoye.
She returned home to care for her parents. She later regretted that much of her life was spent caring for others. She loved birds, bugs and worms. She even kept a praying mantis on her house plants. She would put it on her finger and it would actually perform for her.(from Thelma Huff)
She was a patient at Naples nursing home for the last one and a half years of her life. She was a member of DAR and was very proud of her family ancestry. She told stories of Governor Bradford coming over on the Mayflower.Funeral service was held at Brown Funeral Home and officiated by Rev Vardell Swett, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Honeoye. (Obituary of Louise E Reed) Attended Ingham University which was the first women's university in the U.S.
