Frank Lloyd Wright Design High Back Dining Chair Brooch Pin Robie House Chicago:
WHAT A BEAUTY! This sale is for a very unusual Brooch. It's a highly polished, silvery piece of jewelry, depicting a high back chair! My husband told me it looked like a Frank Lloyd Wright design, so I started in on my research.
Yes, it is a Frank Lloyd Wright design. This Brooch is an exact replication of the High Back Dining RoomChair that Wright designed for the Fredrick C. Robie House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL., in 1910. It'slocated on the University of Chicago Campus. This wonderfulRobie House is known as the greatest example of the Prairie School Style. You can see the Dining Room Furniture by going to this web site:
This fantastic chair Brooch is signed, (C) FLW. I'm guessing this stands for Frank Lloyd Wright. I measures 2 1/4" in height. The seat and legs are 3/4" by 5/8." It has a weight of 7 grams. It's in absolutely perfect condition - no silvery loss or scratching. It has a very high gloss polish. Even though this was found at a fine Estate, it doesn't look as though it has ever been worn.
