French Napoleonic Era Pokalem Cap Pattern Size Large:
This pattern is for thepokalem worn by Napoleonic infantry reenactors. The Pokalem is an undress cap, it was made from scraps of old uniform coats. The French made this cap is dark navy blue wool with red trim and unit number.
The features of the pokalem are: pull down or button up brim, neck cover and ear flaps that pull down for warmth and button under the chin, or fold them up into the brim if the weather is nice. I admit, it is kinda goofy looking, but can't be beat in a chilly camp.
Sizemedium is for head size 23" -24".
Research for this pattern is from actual garments and drawing from the book "Unifomes de L'Armee Francaise, De Fontenoy a Waterloo" by Michel Petard and drawings from the Bardin Regulations.
