On the 4th of April, I drove up and down to Paris. Here I found a very interesting folio, containing a large quantity late 18th and earle 19th century drawings in various sizes and techniques.The present drawing, executed in charcoal and white chalk on laid paper, shows a very decorative study of a classical godess. The floating godess Victory is blowing a trumpet, while holding a laurel wreath. She\' announcing a glorious moment.
This drawing could have been a study for a decoration or a larger scale painting.Authorship : the drawing is from the French School of the early Neoclassical Period.Period : ca. 1795-1805.Size : 38,8x28cm.Condition : Fairly good. Some scattered dirt throughout. Sides damaged, irregular of shape. Right side vertical, corners : traces of folding. Top and bottom side : traces of wrinkling.
