A beautifully reproduced porcelain French Match Striker. The rough surface of its base allows you to light the strike-anywhere match ( not included) with confidence and style. Its charming decorations are all faithful to the antique Café Paris original. It will bring a bit of the French Bistro into your world. Sits 3 1/4" high and measures 3 1/4" across base. Made in and imported from France.
Porcelain matchstrikers, known as "Pyrogene" after one of the major manufacturers, were a feature of every French bistrottable. Many carried advertising for the leading alcohol marques. The striking surface was usually porcelain.
