We are pleased to offer this exceptionally fine c1850 French sterling (950 purity) silver classical teapot. Bearing beautiful period engraved family crest. A crowne atop shield, encasing clover and fleur de lis. From the well listed Paris shop of Henri-Louis Chenailler. Listed in Paris during the mid 19th century. Classic raised circular design, with satin frame petal fluting below. Centre both sides with period engraved crowned shield crest. In beaded and oval drop frame. Set within streaming leaf and berry, with bow tied ribbon above. United by raised floral sprays on satin surface. Step in shoulder with scrolling acanthus band. Followed by slender panel with suspended bell flower. Elegant raised satin chased pomegranate finial, above petal surround. Boldly cast angular block and scroll handle, with satin chased acanthus decorated "urn" centre. Split leaf and branch terminal. Original heat stops. Equally striking acanthus collar streaming bead panel spput, with triple oval drop mount. Atop more dlicately pierced leaf framed bead and scroll feet. This important c1850 French classical teapot with family crest is 11 inches handle to spout and 8 tall. Exceptionally thick heavy guage sterling construction 31 1/2 (standard) ounces. Hallmarked as shown, shoulder and cover, base and so on. In excellent condition. Interior clean as if never used. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The swirling leaf and floral, acanthus and period crest retain their original crisp detail. Handle secure and with original stops. Sharp 1/8 dent to opposite shoulder.
