He founded theBaltimore Fruit Exchange
in 1904 on borrowed money
and eventually owned fruit exchanges in several major regions of the east coast.
In 1911 purchased the Earl Fruit Company,
aSanta Clara County, Californiashipper.
Earl Fruit Company was actually started by Edwin Tobias Earl,
in 1892 and is who invented the ventilated refrigerator car.
