Beautiful postcard album is replete with images of George Washington as Washington's Birthday was celebrated in 1909. Of the 58 stunning colorful cards in this album, 38 either picture George Washington or say his name in the historical text on the card. Other cards celebrate Abraham Lincoln and his birthday, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Decoration Day, etc. The cards are not pasted to the page but neatly placed in the corner slots thatare typical of postcard albumsMany of the cards are plain on the back with no writing, several have a stamp and a handwritten message and are sent to folks in Chicago, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, etc. This is a very exciting group as I have never seen so many images of George Washington in one album. The American flag is prominent in numerous cards and the Civil War {GAR] is addressed with some peaceful and moving images on the cards.George Washington is pictured in a portrait, Washington's Camp at Valley Forge, New Jersey, Children giving Three Cheers for Washington, His birthday celebrated with the decorative display of that famous cherry tree and the ax, Washington Taking Command Of The Army and Three Cheers For the Red, White & Blue! Washington taking the oath as First President of the United States of America, Washington and Lafayette at Mount Vernon, Reception of President Washington at New York, In Memory of the Birthday of Washington, George Washington on his famous white horse and holding out his sword, Washington's Truthfulness - Feb 22nd, 1732 to Dec. 14th, 1799, etc.ConditionHardbound album has padded red embossed covers, white lettering and a beautiful image mid center front cover and is in very good condition, clean and tight. Some outer shelf wear and scuffing on the top edge of the outside spine. Measures approx. 6 x 8 inches, and cards measure approx. 3 /12 x 5 1/2 inches.
