This is for a nice original old antiquelarge desktop Georgian folding magnifying glass circa 1820s. It is made from mother of pearl with a silver framearound the glass and ornate silver mounts in the form of butterflies either side of the pearl covers. It is in very nice condition, there is some light wear for its 200 years, just a couple ofsmall nicks on the very edges of the pearl, and somelight dinks to the silver frame of the lens, but nothing to detract too much, everything feels tight, there is no play in any of the mounts or the hinge and the glass gives a lovely crisp sharp image. It measures 80mm (3") x 55mm (2").
