Georgian Solid Silver Cream Jug - Eames & Barnard London 1822 For Sale
A substantial Solid Silver Cream Jug made by noted Silversmiths Rebecca Eames & Edward Barnard and assayed at London in 1822.
The Jug is of compressed circular form with a wide lipand relatively shallow bowl. It is beautifully decorated with an embossed rose and foliate girdle and a bold gadrooned border. it stands upon a matching bandon four supports withrose and foliate decoration. The handle has an attracive acanthus leaf design.
The interior is gilded.
Dimensions - Height 8.5cm to top of handle, Length 14cm handle to spout, Width 9.5cm across centre of bowl.
Weight - The Jug weighs 158 grams (5oz).
Mallmarks - Crisp marks for London 1822
Maker's Mark - Well struck RE above EB (Rebecca Eames and Edward Barnard). Renowned for high quality work and highly collectable.
This is a very impressive item of antique silverware. It is inexcellent condition and would please the most demanding collector. Thedecoration is crisp and unworn.I have been able to find only oneinsignificant ding to the side of the bowl.
