Georgian Solid Silver Chamber Stick 1812 Hallmarked Birmingham Sterling Nr For Sale
GEORGIAN Solid Silver CHAMBER STICK 1812 Hallmarked Birmingham Sterling NR
Sheffield - Thomas Blagden - 4 troy - SUPERB CONDITION
This is a very attractive and most unusual ANTIQUE GEORGIAN solid sterling silver candlestick or chamberstick that was made in Sheffield, England in 1812 by the illustrious Georgian provincial silversmiths, Thomas Blagden & Company at their Bridge Houses workshops. It is in a traditional rectangular shape with a rectangular nozzle and a stunningring handle with a thumb piece. It has stunning ornate decoration to the edges of the stick and to the edges of the removable nozzle. It measures about 2 3/8" high by 3 3/4" wide across the base and almost 2" wide across the nozzle. It is not loaded, filled or weighted to the base. It is very substantial - it weighs111.4 grams -well over 3 1/2troy oz. It is NOT engraved.
It is in very good condition with a little less than the usual surface scratching, no splits or dents, NO dings and very little distortion - SUPERB - but it does need a better clean than I have had time to give it. It is hallmarked withT.B&Co, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),George III duty mark, crown over Dshowing that it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1812 - I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind The nozzle is similarly hallmarked. A really rare and unusualGEORGIAN English Provincial chamber stick after over200 years. Postage will be 4.50GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
Please note that the primary postage costs are for second class (or standard parcels service if the postage cost is over 6.00GBP) within the UK or surface mail to international destinations.
