German Black Forest Antique Wood Carved Trumpeter Clock Not Cuckoo Very Rare:
HUGE, RARE AND IMPRESSIVE ANTIQUETRUMPETER CLOCK
I am continuing to thin out my very large collection of antique Black Forest clocks, barometers and carvings. Most of my collection has been purchased in Germany and Austria and shipped back to the states. Please be sure to view my other listings for additional Black Forest Items.
I purchased this magnificent clock in Baden - Baden, Germany about 20 years ago. With the assistance of America Airline's Admiral Club, I actually brought it aboard the plane and was permitted to store it in the front closet for the flight home. It remains today in impeccable condition.
As mentioned in the sub-title, these clocks are highly sought after, and tend to remain in the hands of serious collectors. The value continues to increase with the demand.
This clock is large. It measures 2 feet 3 inches tall and 18 inches wide at the crest. The clock is original with the exception of the trumpeter figure and the replaced horns. The hands are beautifully carved bone, as one might find on the high end Beha's. Please note the large taxidermy quality glass eyes!
Trumpeter clocks have no bellow openings on the sides. The horn tones resonate throughout the entire clock case.
The clock is running perfectly. The large gong has a deep sound. The bugle tones are incredible. As shown in the photos, the carving is masterful. The cast brass movement is pinned (early movement) and carries the incised stamping of GHS. This is the mark of Gordian Hettich and sohn, Furtwangen, Germany. This clock dates to circa 1890 - 1905, well over 100 years old. The condition of the clock is remarkable. Please feel free to email for additional photos or to ask questions.
Note: shipping fees on this clock allow for a large carton and extra packing material to assure safe arrival by UPS. The clock will be fully insured.
