GERMAN WOLF PACK WWII U-BOAT U-99 SUBMARINE OTTO KRETSCHMER WOOD WOODEN MODEL
Military Mahogany is proud to announce the release of this handcrafted mahogany wood model of the German U-boat U-99 whose one and only commander was Otto Kretschmer. U-99 was one of the most successfull German U-boats in the war sinking 38 ships for a total tonnage of 244,658 GRT of allied shipping in eight patrols. She damaged five more ships and took one ship as a prize. On March 17, 1941 U-99 had just fired the last of her torpedoes and sunk Korshamn when the Watch Officer spotted a destroyer, south-east of Iceland in approximate position 61deg N 12 deg W . He immediately ordered a dive, but once the boat was under it was quickly fixed on ASDIC and attacked by HMSWalker and HMSVanoc. U-99 was driven deep by the attack and severely damaged. Kretschmer had no choice but to surface and he ordered that the boat should be scuttled. 40 crew, including Kretschmer, were rescued to become POWs, while three crewmen lost their lives.
This is not some cheap wood toy, each model takes an average of 18 hrs to complete and is coated with 3 coats of polyurethane for a super high gloss finish. You will not find a better more detailed model than this.

We open and inspect each model prior to shipping for defects, broken or missing pieces. Every model is double boxed and wrapped for added protection. While in most cases nothing is broken during shipping, occasionally it does happen. Most repairs can easily be fixed with a bit of SUPER GLUE, it dries clear and strong. If a model is damaged beyond reasonable repair a claim will be filed with UPS by us and we will either send you a replacement model or issue a refund. In the unlikely event that your model needs to be returned, please e-mail for an RMA number. After you have received an RMA number, you will receive instructions and an authorization to return the product. Once returned we will send a free replacement after inspection. Please note, the buyer is responsible for shipping back to us.
