Alebrijes are Mexico\'s fantastic, imaginative figures - they are often called \"creatures of the dreams and the imagination\". They are hand-carved and hand-painted of copal wood in Central Mexico in the state of Oaxaca, where I travel regularly to select affordable high quality and imaginative pieces. Oaxaca\'s wood carvings are collected world-wide and are exhibited in galleries and museums. This fabulous elegant piece is a delicate wonderful carving with rich painting. The giraffe is a light blue color on the underside and shades of blue with black spots on the upper surface. The horns, ears and tail are removable . There is a mane of fabulous blue straw extending on the back of the neck. This beautiful giraffe stands approximately 15 1/2\" tall and 7\" long. It is a wonderful, high quality piece.
