Gassiat Style Putter stamped "Royal Calcutta GC RJ Gibson Maker" Royal Calcutta was founded in 1829 as the first and I deduct oldest course built outside of the UK. I saw another club made by Gibson that was dated in the 1930's. I don't know the age of this, but that might fit as the head is an old wood style but the shaft is steel. There is a hairline crack in the back of the hosel underneath where the whipping would be. The shaft is not glued in and the head will be wrapped separate from the shaft. (I have other listings up that have vintage whipping and grips and another with a "new" roll of older style thicker whipping& whipping tool.) I have other club sales ending same day as this. Nice looking club for your collection, always drew interest from friends. It's approx. 32&3/4" long. Whipping in last picture comes with club.
Other golf items ending same day: 1. Three late 1890's clubs by H.Reddie 2. Factory prototype from Spalding that never went into production. It is an iron with a wood back. I purchased it at their factory store in Chicopee, MA out of a barrel around 1985, it's different for sure. 3. I have a wood shaft (no head) marked "The Spalding". 4. Wright & Ditson "Bee Line" Wood, 5. IDEAL putter. 6. Unamed wood shaft (no head) 7. Misc grips and underlisting 8. Roll of whipping and tool for old clubs
MY next group of old golf items, will be Sunday of US open starting at 5pm Pacific, 8 Eastern.
