This is a nice looking Georgian sterling silver milk / cream jug as you can see.

It has a vacant cartouche front centre and a gilt interior as pictured.

The jug probably dates to sometime circa 1830. Unfortunately the assay marks have become very rubbed over the years so it is not possible to get a precise date. The makers mark is also incomplete but I think it reads \"JH\".

A good useful size, it measures approximately 4.25\" long from handle to spout, it is 2.5\" wide and just less than 4\" tall.

It weighs 3.36 imperial ounces which equates to 3.07 troy or 95.3 grams.

The jug has the typical light, faint scuffs and scratches that all silver objects tend to attract over the years, commensurate with age and use. It is water tight, with no splits or leaks anywhere. There are a few shallow and quite minor age related dings and dents here and there around the bodywork plus some typical base wear. The jug stands firm on a flat surface with no wobbles. In addition have spotted what appears to be an old silver repair out of sight on the underside of the pouring lip. I have pictured and indicated this area in one of the photographs provided so you can make a judgement.

No doubt a good polish will further restore former glory.
