German Cast Iron Figural Christmas Tree Stand Putz Victorian Ornament Antique :
This wonderful cast iron Victorian German Christmas tree stand is in excellent structural condition. This date for the last quarter of the 19th century, and was made in Germany. The casting mimics a nobby, gnarly tree base with roots. The original forest green paint still clings to the casting tightly but is worn from decades of use and wear. This is a rare form of cast iron tree stand. It was intended for the Victorian / European style table top tree. In Europe for many years, due to fears of deforestation, people were allowed to have any Christmas tree as long as it was "four shoes in length" or less (meaning under about four feet tall.) This extremely sturdy cast iron Christmas tree stand comes apart in four pieces for storage after the holidays. It is very hard to find this form of tree stand, let alone one in the original paint. Buyer pays large size box priority shipping and insurance. May be picked up in Pompton Plains, NJ.
