Item Description: Up for sale is an unusual anniversary (also known as "400 day", "annual", or "torsion") clock. The clock was produced in Germany over half a century ago. The jeweled movement bears the stamp of the famed Schatz & Söhne clock factory. The clock appears to be constructed mainly of brass or brass-coated metal. The pendulum is a bit unusual in that its adjustment bezel is located on the bottom instead of up on top as is the case with most clocks of its type. The bezel allows one to adjust the pace of the clock if it runs too slow or too fast. The clock comes with a glass dome (presumably original). The base does not have leveling "feet" that were incorporated in clocks of later design to accommodate placement of the clock on surfaces that are not parallel to the ground. If you are new to anniversary clocks and need additonal info, please get in touch.
Dimensions & Weight: This is a "medium" clock for the type, measuring about 9-½ inches (24 cm) in height with the dome, the base is about 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter at the bottom of the base. The dome itself measures about 8-½ inches (21 cm) in height and 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter. The clock with the dome weighs about 3 lb (1.36 kg) without the packaging.
The clock does come with a winding key (not pictured), but it is likely not original to the clock. Item Condition: Overall the item appears to be well preserved and complete. There are "signs of age" one would expect, but nothing unusual or excessive, in our opinion. Some brass parts have "micro-scratches" visible at close inspection. There are places, especially on the base, where the brass has darkened. The glass of the dome has minor imperfections that are inevitable from years of use, but no cracks or chips.
The clock runs well and keeps time, but accuracy varies with temperature. The clock appears to have the original (non-Horolovar) type pendulum suspension spring, which usually accounts for such time-keeping irregularities. We would recommend a suspension spring upgrade if accuracy in time-keeping is a major concern. (For a small premium we could fit the clock with a Horolovar spring before shipping if the winner of the sale so chooses).Item Condition Disclaimer: We always try to describe the condition of items for sale and make photos that are characteristic of their state in as complete a manner as we can. If a description appears incomplete or inadequate, or if you have questions about a particular aspect of an item's function or state, please don't hesitate to contact us before offerding. Any defects not mentioned in the text description but visible in the pictures will be considered part of item description. Antique and vintage clocks can prove very delicate. Even though we always package items securely to prevent any shipping damage, things can still go wrong while an item is in transit. Clock movement may need to be serviced/adjusted upon arrival, regardless of any of our recent servicing. Although this is only a very slight possibility, it can occasionally happen. For this reason alone we cannot guarantee an excellent running and accuracy in keeping time. Please bear in mind that by buying a used clock you are acquiring an old mechanical piece that WILL require additional service at some point in time in order to stay functional.Domestic Shipping: Item will be professionally packed. Most heavier/bigger packages are shipped via FedEx due to them being a better value for such shippments. If you prefer to use a specific carrier, please get in touch to discuss prior to purchasing the item due to possible additional cost. Shipping insurance for the full amount of sale will be included. (Adult) signature will be required for receipt of package.
International Shipping: I will be happy to ship worldwide (some locations are excluded, but if you can offer on this sale, we will be able to ship to your location). If the shipping cost to your location is not specified, please contact us for a quote. Please remember that any duties, customs, or any other fees imposed by your country are your responsibility.

We can promise proper packaging and delivery of package to our (U.S.) postal service provider. What happens on the other end is outside of our control. If you wish for more assurance, you can request shipping via UPS, FedEx, DHL or other international courier service of your choice. Their services are usually much more expensive, so please inquire before making a purchase.
