German Prussian M-1811 Blucher Light Cavalry Saber Sword:
Grenadier Military Antiques Is Offering This Prussian M-1811 Blucher Light Cavalry Saber. The overall length is approx. 40" while the blade itself is approx. 32 1/2". The hilt is made of iron, with a leather wrapped wooden handle, which retains 99% of the leather covering. The curved blade is still very shinny, but has patches of graying, a period sharpened edge, a few minor chips, scratches and some light pitting towards the point. The false edge of the blade is numbered "644" and one of the langnets is marked "5. T.P. 4. 58." The saber retains it's original leather washer. The scabbard is the early type, being made of iron, and very over-sized, and heavy. It retains both mounting rings, and is marked "M.F. 2. 20." it shows several shallow dents, and even pitting overall. The saber looks to have been cleaned quite a while ago, and is regaining some patina. The overall condition is very good, especially for it's approx. 200 year age.
