Selling a preowned German Christmas table topper /\"Wax Catcher\" (\"Wachsfänger\")/ table topper which is printed with traditional, old fashioned Erzgebirge Christmas motifs. The large figures are the angel and the miner candle holders. The intricate border is tiny angel and miner candle holders with each pair of hands joined holding a single lit candle. These small, rectangular cloths were traditionally used on a table under the pairs of Erzgebirge wood candle holders shaped like the angel and the miner to protect the table top from dripping candle wax or the schwibbogen (the candle arch). This cloth appears unused. Stored carefully in a trunk since the 1950s. THIS CLOTH IS REALLY PRETTY! The family is moving from Eastern Germany to Western Germany for economic opportunity, and selling all their old family things including their collection of these cheerful wax catcher cloths. Colors are bright and unfaded. Designs are crisp and striking. Size is about 10 1/2\" by 20\". Condition is excellent and this cloth is ready to use.
