Known as 'Die Fleißige Familie' (The Busy or Industrious Family) this sterling silver thimble was first made around 1910 by Gabler Brothers of Schorndorf, Germany. The border depicts a mother and children engaged in domestic activities - winding wool, needlework and playing with a kitten. This version was made in the 1980s using the original Gabler Brothers dies and was a collaboration between Thorvald Greif of Creglingen and Julius Wengert of Pforzheim, Germany. The thimble has an eight-point star pattern on the crown and is stamped in the knurling with Thorvald Greif's "G" in a star mark. Under the crown the thimble is marked 925 M (medium) - characteristic marks of Wengert of Pforzheim. The thimble is in excellent undamaged condition. Height approx. 2.1 cm; internal base diameter 1.6 cm; weight 6.7 grams.
