Gibson Pick Guard From An A Model Mandolin C.1911 For Sale
Gibson Pick guard from an A model mandolin c.1911
This is an original, tortoise shell pattern, celluloid pick guard from an A model Gibson mandolin from around 1911-1918. Somehow in the manufacture of these pick guards there was an error in the formula and the material ended up being sensitive to light. When exposed to daylight the pick guards began to disintagrate and crumble away. Those that survived were from instruments that were exposed to little or no sunlight.
You can see that this one is in excellent condition and ready to be used. This is a sale and will go to the highest buyer.
Remember, this is a used antique and there will be evidence of use and age.
