Good antique german violin made after Guarneri circa 1940.

Good antique german violin made after Guarneri circa 1940-1950. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows regular grain lines. The back is made of one piece of highly flamed maple, the curl slightly descending from the center joint. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood, and original to the instrument. The varnish is of an orange-brown color on a golden ground.The f holes are beautifully carved in the style of Guarneri.

The violin is in a perfect condition, without any crack or repair. The instrument has been newly set-up including a Despiau bridge, Thomastik Dominant strings, and a pegs, tailpiece and chinrest set.

On the back of the head is fire branded the mention \"Grand Solo Violin Guarneri\". On the inside back can also be found an handwritten inscription, \"Guarneri 1724\".

Body length : 357 mm.

Upper bouts : 171 mm.

Middle bouts : 116 mm.

Lower bouts : 206 mm.

The violin has a clear and powerful sound, projective and responsive.
