Up for sale today is myrare Goodwin Granger 8040 8' 3/2 Special in restored original condition. This is an original Goodwin Granger and not a later Wright & McGill 8040 as most consider the GG 8040 superior to the W&M version. This model has the sought after coke bottle grip and patent pending internal uplocking nickel silver reel seat. A fly rod taper that that is commonly referred to as the best 8' bamboo flyrod ever, the GG 8040 throws a very graceful 4 or 5 wt fly line depending on your preference. This rod is almost in new condition, but has had the varnish restored by Glen Brackett of Winston/Sweetgrass. It was stored and not used in an attic for decades. The varnish had become soft and malleable so I had it re-varnished. All of the rod's hardware is original. I have not used this rod save for some lawn casting.All around
