Gorgeous Vintage 1930\'s Brush-McCoy Pottery Art Deco \"New Art Vellum\" Planter:
$85.00

Featured in this sale is a large, vintagejardiniere or planter made by the Brush-McCoy Pottery Co. This beautiful bowl is unmarked except for the incised shape number 524, but is referenced in Sanford\'s Guide to Brush-McCoy Pottery, Book 1 by Martha and Steve Sanford as being from the harder-to-find \"New Art Vellum\" line which was produced in the early 1930\'s. Brush-McCoy madethis piece to honor the art-deco aesthetic that was very popular at the time by including ornamental details or \"handles\". The moldformed a rounder, urn-like shape. The ornamental details add real artistic character and craftsmanshipto the piece. This heavy pot is in very-good-to-excellent condition with only a fewminor production imperfections such as glaze pops, flakes and pinholes. There are also some tiny fleabite bruises to the glaze along with some verysmall glaze rubs. There are also two very tight hairlines on either side of one handle that are difficult to see. I only noticed them when I viewed my magnified photos. They extend down from the rim about 2\" or so but do not detract at all from the beauty of the piece. Otherwise, there are no chips, no crazing and no repairs that I can find. The bowl is finished in the gorgeous, blue art vellum glaze that has a lovely mottled, matte texture. The base rim is unglazed. The planter is 4-3/4\" tall, about 6-1/4\" wide at the body, and about 3-1/4\" wide at therim opening. The piece also shows some gentle wear such as small scratches withwater and mineral staining. Check out all 12 photos! This urn wouldbe perfect for any American art pottery or Brush-McCoy Pottery collector.Check out my other pottery listings!I am offering FREE SHIPPING for this item withinU.S. only.
