IMPORTANT 1868 GORHAM STERLING SILVER EGYTIAN REVIVAL TEA URN; RAISED ANTHEMION LEGS & TEAR DROP HANDLES; EXCELLENT CONDITION; 63 OUNCES
We are pleased to offer this exceptional Gorham Egyptian Revival tea urn.
Bearing Gorham hallmarks including their very first year date letter for 1868. Making this a very, very early example of Egyptian inspired design.
Unique sharply tapering bell or trumpet form.
Brilliantly cast twin leaf and disc, tear drop ring handles. A very rare design. Rising from Egyptian inpsired anthemion and shell terminal.
Well fit domed cover with raised globe atop platter finial. Atop slender petal fluted surround.
Boldly cast raised urn finial to spout. Adorned with series of leaf and berry wreath, suspended from cone supports. Atop twin step beaded edge base, itself atop octagonal pedestal. The spout with satin surface side panel.
The urn atop equally well cast twin anthemion and rolled vine cenre tapering feet.
Gothic B engraved to opposite side. < P> This important 1868 Gorham Egyptian Revival tea urn is 14 inches tall and 10 inches across tear drop handles.
Exceptionally thick heavy guage sterling 63 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The interior free of discoloration as if never used. The leaf and berry tear drop handles and finia retain their original crisp detail. Cover well fit. Few tiny shallow pinhead bumps, no burner.
