All offers are welcome. Up for sale is a really nice 1890 silver soldered covered butter dish with insertby Gorham of Providence, Rhode Island.
Though their reputation has become somewhat tarnished in modern times, Gorham made the best silver in America in the late 19th Century, even better than Tiffany. They had the awards to prove it.
This is Gorham Silver Solderedwork of the highest level. Just look at the pictures!The dish has 3 parts - a body into which crushed ice was placed, an insert to hold the butter and a cover of mostextraordinarywork.
All parts of the dish are in excellent condition with absolutely no scratches or dents of any kind. It appears to have only been lightly used and beautifully cared for in the past 125 years.
It is thrilling to behold and would be a fantastic addition to your holiday dinner table.
