RARE 1879 GORHAM STERLING SILVER STRAWBERRY SURFACE WATER PITCHER; HAND DECORATED; EXCELLENT CONDITION; 25 OUNCES
We are pleased to offer this 1879 Gorham sterling silver hand decorated strawberry water pitcher.
An exceptionally rare design in 19th century Gorham.
In most unique barrel form.
Beautifully hand carved strawberry and leaf displays. The half ripened fruit and gently rippling leave with rich vibrant detail. Set against all over pot marked surface, as found on the actual fruit.
Boldly cast twisted rope and slender paneled C-scroll handle. With disc and banding to centre.
This extremely rare 1879 Gorham sterling silver strawberry water pitcher is 7 1/4 inches tall.
Exceptionally thick, heavy guage sterling 25 1/2 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands even on table. The strawberry fruit and leaf decoration retains its original rich vibrant hand chased detail.
